SM hotels, SMX get DOT Safety Seal

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has recently granted the SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC) the Safety Seal for meeting the minimum public health standards (MPHS) against COVID-19 set by the government, and for integrating the StaySafe.ph app in its contact tracing scheme.

Given the DOT certification were Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City, Pico Sands Hotel in Nasugbu, Conrad Manila, Radisson Blu Cebu, and Park Inn by Radisson hotels (North Edsa, Clark, Iloilo, Davao, and Bacolod), as well as SMX Convention Centers in Manila, SM Aura, and Davao.

According to SMHCC executive vice president Peggy Angeles, the Safety Seal serves as the govern

ment’s stamp of approval, and is a testament to the firm’s uncompromising health and safety standards in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She said that the stringent protocols under SMHCC’s own SustainablySafe Program, primed its properties for the new normal for the safety and peace of mind of its guests.

SustainablySafe is a firm-wide campaign designed to ensure the health and comfort of its staff and visitors through guest-centric policies for the prevention and mitigation of virus and diseases.

Moreover, the prestigious World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) also recently granted the first-ever Safe Travel Stamp to Radisson Blu Cebu, and Park Inn by

Radisson in Davao and Iloilo in recognition of these hotels’ compliance with WTTC’s stringent health protocols.

A leading local chain that takes pride in Filipino hospitality, SMHCC was established in 2008 to develop and manage the hotel and convention properties of SM Prime, one of

Southeast Asia’s largest integrated property developers.

Its growth has propelled the company’s goal to double its portfolio within the next five years, and has

become a powerhouse brand which

has created an indelible mark in the country’s tourism and Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industries.

SMHCC’s current property portfolio is comprised of nine hotels

with a combined inventory of more than 2,200 rooms, and about 38,000 square meters of convention space for lease.
