Filipinos don’t have a “mall-going” culture. There is a severe lack of free recreational areas; parks, picnic spaces, gardens, public spaces not blocked along lines of membership or class, or otherwise closed for tourism and advertised experiences. @ohn0uno

Past pandemics like 1918 flu have lasted at least two years, so we should have expected at least that sort of duration. Some pandemics lasted a bit more than that, and periodically returned.
