GABORONE—Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi said the first Omicron coronavirus variants found in the country were tested from four diplomats—some of whom had come from Europe. Masisi did not disclose the nationalities of the diplomats but said “[they] came from a number of countries ... some had been to Europe and some had been elsewhere.” Omicron was detected in the diplomats who traveled into the country on Nov. 7 and left on Nov. 11, he said.
