The cornerstone-laying ceremony for the Batangas City Grand Stadium at Batangas City Sports Complex was held. Aside from the ceremonial demolition of the dilapidated grandstand to pave the way for the sports facility project, city officials also unveiled the proposed design of the sports complex, which features a four-story grandstand and a 24,900-square meter, eight-lane track and field oval for athletics and football games. The grandstand, which has a floor area of 7,590 square meters and an 8,000 seating capacity, will also have a media conference room, exhibit area, multifunction hall and indoor training ground for athletes in its second floor while third floor facilities feature the sports commentators/announcers’ booth. The players’ sleeping quarters will be located on the third and fourth floors, including a VIP viewing deck. The sports complex also has an open space for road networks, parking spaces, security house, first aid clinic and public toilets, among other facilities.
