It was an evening where all that glittered was actually gold. From a spectacular show gleaming with gold costumes to bespoke meals punctuated with gold leaf, HSBC Philippines treated 400-plus guests to a lavish production of HSBC Wealth, an enhanced wealth brokerage program for its clients.

“HSBC Wealth is yet another milestone in our 147-year history in the Philippines. This demonstrates our confidence in the country, and reaffirms our commitment to bridging our Philippine customers with the rest of the world,” said HSBC president and CEO Sandeep Uppal.

What better way to express affluence, prosperity and wealth than with an evening filled with gold accents?

HSBC Wealth is a program exclusive to HSBC Premier clients. It offers a range of unit investment trust funds that covers asset classes and risk profiles. Clients now have broader choices of investment products. HSBC Wealth vice chair Peter Faulhaber said this ensures customers reach their financial objectives and needs while the bank “protects, diversifies and grows their wealth.”

“Our wealth managers will identify their financial goals and help them achieve those goals ... We are giving our clients a wider suite of products and better customer experience through our qualified wealth managers,” Faulhaber said.

Faulhaber added these are safe and reliable methods to help customers grow their wealth. An HSBC Phils. wealth manager are also on hand for financial advice.

Culinary journey

Guests at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La at the Fort were treated to a feast that took them on a culinary journey across HSBC’s vast international network. The gastronomic celebration was prepared in detail by Chef Carlo Huerta, kicking off at the custom-made Gold Bar.

Starters included delicious sustainable yellowfin tuna on a sago cracker topped with labuyo mayonesa and cancha crisp; chicken Bicol express in crispy lumpia and buko krema; and pulled pork adobo puff on truffle perfume. Drinks were a refreshing dalandan spritz and calamansi iced tea.

Handpicked white and red wines were paired with the three-course dinner.

It started with a seafood medley of seared scallops, dill marinated tiger prawns, pomelo, sundried heirloom tomatoes, crispy fennel, warm passion fruit sauce and gold dusted potato paper. This showcase of the Philippine sea’s produce symbolized HSBC’s 147 years of presence in the country.

Next came a Josper-grilled beef tenderloin with spiced carrot puree, crispy potato stack, sautéed broccoli, gold flakes, port wine reduction and saffron tuile to represent the presence of HSBC in North America.

Pastry chef Myles Sanchez created a lovely Belgian dark chocolate mousse in chocolate nest raspberry jelly and seasonal berries to symbolize the sweet future ushered in through HSBC Wealth.

Theater stars Gab Pangilinan, Gian Magdangal, Reb Atadero and Frenchie Dy performed a spectacular production of songs from “The Greatest Showman.” Everyone went home with specially made chocolate bonbons.
