A biographical marker was installed for writer, orator and propagandist José Maria Panganiban along Naga Central Road in Naga City, Camarines Sur, by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. Born on Feb. 1, 1863, Panganiban was one of the writers of La Solidaridad, using the pen names “Jomapa” and “JMP,” who helped advocate free press and educational reforms in the country during the Spanish occupation. Panganiban died in Barcelona, Spain, on Aug. 19, 1890.
