By Leila B. Salaverria @LeilasINQ
President Duterte has extended to Aug. 15 the travel restrictions on 10 countries that he had imposed to prevent the spread of the more transmissible Delta variant in the country.
Covered by the ban are India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
Thus, travelers from these countries are not permitted to enter the Philippines, except Filipinos repatriated by the government.
The government also updated its list of green countries or those considered lowrisk for COVID-19.
Travelers from these countries are allowed to undergo a shorter seven-day quarantine instead of 10 days.
The new green countries include Albania, American Samoa, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Azerbaijan, Benin, Bermuda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cayman Islands, Chad, China, Comoros, Cote d’Ivoire, Dominica, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Falkland Islands, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Hong Kong, among others.
